150th Adaminaby Races a success

Monaro Post 26/11/14
The 150th Adaminaby Races held last Saturday were an outstanding success for the Adaminaby
Jockey Club, with about 3000 people in attendance. Officially opened by the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove, the day began with a grand parade.
Former local girl, now Sunrise presenter Sam Armytage, was also a guest of honour, officiating at
the Fashions on the Field.
The racing was good, with veteran jockey Kevin Sweeney steering home five race “winners” to cross
the finishing the line first. However, a successful protest in race two by the connections of Burnt Sugar, second across the line, against Sweeney’s mount Calais Grey saw his tally reduced to four winners.
